Harvard University and Google have created the most detailed or close to complete map of the human brain using artificial intelligence-AI. The study was based on a 1 cubic millimeter section of cerebral cortex removed from a patient's brain during epilepsy surgery in 2014.

For a decade, a team of biologists and machine-learning experts analyzed this small sample of brain tissue. This part contains about 57 thousand cells and 15 million synapses. Their discovery will play an important role in understanding brain connections.

The project faces several challenges. As such, large amounts of data must be manually checked to correct errors. In addition, unknown egg-shaped structures and tangled cells in the map are still unknown. Abnormalities can provide new insights. However, more experiments are needed on these.

The brain map is now open to everyone. As a result, it will open new avenues for research on the human brain. It will help increase knowledge about mental disorders like schizophrenia. Also, by simulating brain activity, AI will be able to convey more new information. In the future, this knowledge will be applied to the study of the rat and human brain. It will advance neuroscience and various related fields.
